The grand opening party aimed to underline that goal by presenting a 12-hour line-up of international DJs and music tastemakers.
The Impressive Line-up of Talent for SugarSand’s Grand Opening
Kicking off the party at 2 PM was Cian, an England-born, New Zealand-based music tastemaker, DJ, broadcaster and promoter who has been providing quality music for the land of middle earth’s ears since late 1980s.
Next up was Alexander Nut from the UK. Alexander has made a name for himself as one of the most interestingly diverse and influential DJs in the UK. His music runs the gamut from House through Jazz, Hip-Hop, Afrobeat and Funk.
Bringing the stylish crowd into the illustrious Seminyak sunset session was Jordan Rakei. Also a New Zealand native, Jordan has quickly caught the attention of dance music fans all over the world with his soulful, jazz and hip-hop inspired compositions and sound. This talented multi-instrumentalist was just the person to underline the quality and originality that music at SugarSand represents.
Next onstage was DJ Spell, who also hails from New Zealand and is the reigning champion DMC Online DJ. He draws his musical influences from every type of music from Classical to Funk and he has a proven ability, as he aptly demonstrated during his set at SugarSand, to rock any audience in the world.
Going deeper into the starry evening, Benji B took over the deck, delivering an inspired set of genre-crossing music. This brilliant DJ from the UK, co-produced Kanye West’s ‘Fade’ track, and curated stylish tunes for one of the world’s leading designer brands, Louis Vuitton.
The next artist to grace the stage was an American from Chicago, the esteemed Roy Davis Junior. Roy specialises in House music and has been one of the most revered and respected musicians in dance music for years, working with artists such as Mary J. Blige, Seal and Patti Labelle. His set at SugarSand left no doubt that the man has a sterling House pedigree. He offered a worthy taste of the quality of music that would continue throughout the evening and made a resounding statement that SugarSand was serious about the music it would be presenting.
Bringing the night into a sweet end was SugarSand’s own, LADY FLiC. Another New Zealand-born talent, she arrived in Bali by way of the Maldives where she made a name for herself with her intense explorations of many genre of music.
